Aston Martin recently the updated version of their V8 Vantage during the motor show in Geneva. The changes on the outside are not major like the new bumper in front and on the rear, new diffuser and splitter but the more significant revisions happened under its skin.

The output of the base model of the V8 Vantage has been improved to 430 HP and a torque of 361 lb-ft. The steering ratio has also been tweaked to be faster while the brakes are bigger and the tires are wider. Alfa also gives consumers an option to have a 7-speed Sportshift II transmission .

The V8 Vantage according to Aston Martin is where pure motion blends well with total control. It is pretty vague what they mean with that but what is clear is that looks great as it blazes thru the dark night on the streets of Paris. The sound of the engine is impeccable too and just to die for. We are pretty sure that any driver will wish to be behind its wheel, drive for hours, and appreciate the orchestra of the exhaust pipes.

The plot of the video is just simple but the cinematography is worth some praises. The washed-out colour serves the dramatic purposes of the video. Hmm… we are just wondering if the story could have been better if the driver of the Aston Martin left a bit earlier, the meet up would with the wife or girlfriend or mistress could be somewhere dry.

This 2012, Aston Martin will be fielding two vehicles for the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge or CTSCC.

The Vantage GT4 race car will be a product of Aston Martin’s collaboration with Multimatic Motorsports, a company based in Toronto. The V8 Vantage will be the basis of the racecar.

The V8 Vantage is an excellent jump off point in building a vehicle for the CTSCC since the car has a very potent V8 4.7L engine and a chassis made from bonded aluminum. The Vantage GT4 might be a newbie in terms of the racing series in North America but in the European racing circuit particularly in the GT4 Cup and endurance racing.

Multimatic is also a big name in the CTSCC having ruled the race in 2008, 2005 and also back in 2002. The motorsports firm has also been a long-time partner of Aston Martin as they have been supplying the factory in Gaydon, England with the chassis made of carbon fiber for the Aston Martin One-77 supercar. They are also producing the V12 Vantage Zagato carbonfiber components.

During the season, Multimatic will be using the two cars for their campaign. The lead car will have Scott Maxwell backed up by Joe Foster. The other car will have professional driver and actor Patrick Dempsey and Chris Porritt who is the chief engineer of Aston Martin.

Aston Martin will be facing a pretty determined field during the Grand-Am race series. Ferrari will try to conquer the track with its 458 Italia while Audi will go for the top spot with their R8 LMS. There will also be prototype Corvettes built for the Daytona race. The field at this year’s CTSSC will be very different compared to last year’s and fans can expect an exciting contest. Vroom! Vroom!

Aston Martin tops the list of the CoolBrands Council for fiver years in the last six. This annual competition starts with a long list of 10,000 brands and after careful scrutiny and screening cuts down the list to 1,500 before the top 500 brands are named.

Close to the top were computer and gadget manufacturer Apple and audio systems specialist Bang & Olufsen (which incidentally is the supplier of the sound system of Aston Martin). Aside from being the top automotive brand, Aston Martin has proven that it dominates the market in the UK by topping the other segment brands.

The CoolBrands Council describes the Aston Martin vehicles as sexy, smooth, and sophisticated British made vehicle that can be considered as in the dream list of most UK car lovers.

The CooldBrands was founded in 2001 and has been asking for the opinion of both consumers and experts to name the best brands in Britain. The evaluation considers factors like originality, authenticity, desirability, and style.

The 2011 council consisted of thirty six influencers like Rob da Bank, Jessie J, and Sadie Frost.

Aston Martin has transformed from being a small scale car producer of premium sports car to a luxury brand known worldwide. The luxury car brand boasts of a wide range of line up which includes the One-77 supercar, the powerful yet elegant V12 Zagato, the minicar Cygnet, to the exquisite Vantage, Virage, Aston Martin DB9, Rapide, and DBS. Aston Martin recently unveiled the Carbon Series of the DBS during the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Aston Martin promises to introduce radical innovations and continue their special automotive heritage.

Aston Martin recently announced that they will be putting into production the Lagonda SUV that was unveiled during the 2009 motor show in Geneva. According to some reports, The W166 of the Mercedes-Benz M Class would serve as the basis for the luxury SUV.

Since the M-Class will be utilized as the base platform of the next GL-Class, the luxury carmaker will be coming up with a longer W166 platform and this will go into the new GL Class. This longer platform will be the one tapped by Aston Martin for making its Lagonda SUV.

Both luxury brands are pushing for the Lagonda since the luxury SUV has a very good potential to return good sales numbers. The market for the likes of the Lagonda in Russia and China is booming since they are still on the stage of developing their network of infrastructures and vehicles that can go off-road come very useful.

During a press briefing, Mercedes Benz also confirmed that they will be producing the AMG edition of W166 ML that will have a V8 5.5L twin turbocharged engine that can give out 515 horsepower and monstrous torque of 516 ln-ft.

And yes, the bold and dynamic V8 Vantage S comes with a lot of attitude. According to Dr. Ulrich Bez, the CEO of Aston Martin, the new model is aimed to go beyond the previous driving experience the brand has been offering.

The V8 Vantage S model boasts of a 4.7-liter V8 engine that is packed with 361 lb-ft of torque and 430 horsepower. Add to this is the brand’s new 7-speed gearbox with automated manual transmissions and paddle shifters. This new gearbox is called the Sportshift II and provides the V8 Vantage S with almost 20% increase in shift speed compared to the old Sportshift with its 6-speed transmission. Working together, these brand new additions give the V8 Vantage S model a maximum speed of 190mph.

Of course, the exteriors are also smashing with its carbon fiber front bumpers and the set of 19-inch V-spoke wheels. You can also opt for the set of 10-spoke forged wheels that offer no less than an upgrade in one’s experience when driving an Aston Martin.

There is a saying that an Ashton Martini will always be an Ashton Martini and that despite the age of the 1965 Ashton Martin DB5 convertible, this particular model is still a dream come true of automobile enthusiasts.  The 1965 Ashton Martin DB5 convertible that will be auctioned boasts of its original white exterior body with a red mohair hood to match.  It registered 100,000 mileages along with two engine overhauls one in 1975 and in 1986.  The DB5 convertible comes with a very powerful Vantage engine.  It is said that this rare DB5 convertible has gone through three owners since 1965.  Based on the pictures, it has retained its high-profile glamour all these years.

According to auction experts at Historics, the 1965 Ashton Martin DB5 convertible can rake in a figure between US$547,000 – $703,000 (£350,000 -£450,000).  This rare find is expected to earn 100 times more compared to its original selling price of £4,562 back in good old 1965.

Aside from the Ashton Martini, a 1937 Bentley, a Lister-Jaguar, and Kylie Minogue’s Mercedes also went through the hammer.

Seen on testing on the road, the Aston Martin mule seem to sport the side skirts of the Vantage but looks more aggressive with its vented hood, carbon fiber lip spoiler, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. It actually features a mix of the V8 and V12 Vantage.

What is under the hood is not clear. It could be a V-12 powerplant which can muscle its way through the cold weather environment. It could also be a V-8 Vantage with more aggressive exteriors.

It could not be a new engine under the hood since it is too soon since the V8 got its beefing up for the 2009 model. It got a steroid boost coming from 4.3L with an output of 380 horsepower to a 4.7L monster with 420 horsepower. The V-12, meanwhile is still staying put with its 510 horsepower output. It will still be a few years before we see Aston Martin bolting a new engine to the Vantage.

The spied Aston Martin Vantage also has a new 19-inch 10 spoke wheels and seat upgrades which makes the car lighter by about 35 pounds. The sound system also goes boom with a Bang & Olufsen 1,000-watt stereo system.

There is an Aston Martin driving course in Michigan in North America which has been running for four years now. The other two courses are in the United Kingdom and Belgium. Interested drivers can pay a fee of $2,500 for a one day course using any Aston Martin model from their current fleet.

The car manufacturer has also hired a driving administrator to assist the enrollees during the training. Aston Martin’s driving program provides one on one instruction to help drivers improve their skills behind the steering wheel.

The course involves a two-fold training which includes theories and practice. The training subjects the students to different environments where they can try to master their skills on high speed driving. The course hones their skills on car dynamics, handling, power delivery, and braking.

Aston Martin hopes that by opening the driving school to everyone, more people will appreciate their brand and let other people know about how their cars perform. If the program will be successful Aston Martin will launch more schools to boost their marketing.

So far Aston Martin owners who have enrolled act as ambassadors of the brand knowing how their improved knowledge helped with their skills on everyday driving.

Bernie Ecclestone, the F1 tycoon, revealed that Aston Martin will join the championship and will be welcomed as manufacturer entrant. Aston Martin will technically join F1 by next year under the banner of Prodrive. The rebranding to Aston Martin will happen by 2012.

The Aston Martin has collaborations with the McLaren F1 but the executives from Prodrive emphasized that the F1 car will be genuinely Aston Martin.

The budget cap proposal of Max Mosley served as catalyst to the entry of Aston Martin to F1. The issue resulted to threats from various manufacturers to withdraw from F1. The cap also triggered the interest of other manufacturers should it be enforced.

The budget cap is planned to be set to $50 million for every team. This opens the barriers for other manufacturers to enter the F1 scenario, deemed to be the ultimate of motorsport.

Aside from Aston Martin, USGPE and Lola are vying for the three spots on the 2010 F1 grid. There are also rumors that Hyundai and Kia formed an alliance to put a race car on the track. When the red lights go out on the 2010 F1 season, there will be 26 cars on the grid from 13 teams.

The Cygnet will have a different look as it carries the Aston Martin badge. According to insiders, the car is being designed for European consumers and can be clearly differentiated from its older sibling the iQ minicar. Aston Martin has not given a hint about its price and production volumes.

The Toyota iQ from which the Cygnet will be based is powered by a 3-cylinder engine and has the 5-star seal of safety from the Euro NCAP. Most attributes of the iQ will be retained in the Cygnet but we can expect the latter to have the feel of luxury of an Aston Martin interior.

The CEO of Aston Martin, Ulrich Bez discussed with the media that the Cygnet still needs a lot of work and the car manufacturer is really excited as it goes into production in the near future.

The partnership between Aston Martin and Toyota was forged so the former can use the technology of the Japanese automaker to meet the fuel efficiency requirements set by European laws that will take effect by 2012.

Aston Martin and other low volume car manufacturers like Lamborghini and Ferrari face a great challenge to meet the tougher fuel and emission regulations. These three car firms produce powerful cars with higher than the standard CO2 emissions. Aston Martin though does not have the luxury of leveling their emissions with a parent company like the Fiat and VW for Ferrari and Lamborghini.

By the way, the Cygnet will only be sold to those who already has an Aston Martin in their garage.
